On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at approximately 1442 hours, New York City Police Department (NYPD) police officers from the 44th Precinct in the Bronx, assigned to a footpost on E. 161st Street and Morris Avenue, observed a 15-year-old male display and discharge a firearm multiple times towards a 29-year-old male victim, striking him once in the chest, before fleeing on foot from the scene.
EMS responded to the scene and transported the male victim to NYC Health + Hospitals / Lincoln, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Officers who witnessed the shooting pursued the suspect to E. 156 lth Street and Courtlandt Avenue and placed him into custody.
A firearm was also recovered at the scene.
Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, an unnamed 15-year-old male individual was arrested and charged on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 1455 hours, within the confines of the 40th Precinct in the Bronx.
Charges:
- murder in the 2nd degree;
- manslaughter in the 1st degree;
- criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree, 2 counts.
Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as follows.
