Paul Johnson, 20, Arrested For The Murder Of Matthew Sumpter, 19

On Monday, July 26, 2021, at approximately 2147 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a male, shot near the corner of W. 141st Street and 8th Avenue, within the confines of the 32nd Precinct in Manhattan.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 19-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the torso.

EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals / Harlem, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, on Monday, March 14, 2022, the following 20-year-old male individual has been arrested and charged in regard to the above-listed homicide.

  • reckless endangerment.

The investigation remains ongoing.
