On Saturday, February 05, 2022, at approximately 1646 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian, struck at Coleridge Street and Oriental Boulevard, within the confines of the 61st Precinct in Brooklyn.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 99-year-old male pedestrian, lying in the roadway with trauma to the body.

EMS responded and transported the pedestrian to NYC Health + Hospitals / Coney Island, where he was pronounced deceased.

A preliminary investigation determined that the pedestrian, who was operating an electric-powered wheel chair, was crossing the intersection northbound on Coleridge Street, when a 2020 BMW X5, operated by a 52-year-old male, travelling westbound on Oriental Boulevard, struck the pedestrian.

The operator of the vehicle remained on scene.

The investigation remains ongoing at this time by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad.

Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as follows.

There have been no arrests made and the investigation remains ongoing.
