Help Identify A Murder Suspect

The New York City Police Department is asking the public’s assistance identifying the male, depicted in the attached surveillance photographs, who is wanted for questioning in connection to two (2) shooting incidents, a non-fatal and a fatal one, that occurred within the confines of the 1st and 5th Precincts in Manhattan.

The suspect is believed to be targeting homeless individuals, who are sleeping on the street.

Details are as follows.

1st Precinct

On Saturday, March 12, 2022, at approximately 0500 hours, police observed a 38-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the right forearm on King Street, between Varick Street and Avenue of the Americas, within the confines of the 1st Precinct.

A preliminary investigation determined the victim was sleeping at the aforementioned location, when an unknown individual approached him and discharged a firearm at him. The individual fled eastbound on King Street.

EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals / Bellevue in stable condition.

5th Precinct

On Saturday, March 12, 2022, at approximately 1656 hours, police responded to a 911 call of an aided individual outside of 148 Lafayette Street, within the confines of the 5th Precinct.

Upon arrival, officers observed an unconscious and unresponsive unidentified male inside of a sleeping bag in front of the Howard Street entrance of the building.

The unidentified male suffered a gunshot wound to the head and neck.

EMS responded and pronounced the male deceased on scene.

A preliminary video investigation determined that an unknown individual approached the deceased male at approximately 0600 hours, before displaying and discharging a firearm at the deceased.

The individual fled westbound on Howard Street.
